Riverside Athletics is thrilled to announce our next head football coach, John Ammons. Coach Ammons is a Riverside and Pendleton High Alumni who has been successful as an assistant on our staff for the last four years. We are excited about the future of our football program! Go Bulldogs!

Riverside's Athletes of the Week come from baseball and softball.
Bentley Leopard represents baseball; Coach Leopard recognizes him for his leadership, pitching, and being a force in the middle of the batting order.
Delaney Strasser represents softball, recognized by Coach Simmons for being supportive of her teammates, committed, and a special presence in the circle, with 35 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched.

This week, we're also celebrating Mr. Brady during National Assistant Principal week! What does an assistant principal do? A LOT!!! And we thank Mr. Brady for doing it all and making it fun!

Riverside Football weightlifting for rising 7th and 8th graders will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at PHS for the remainder of the spring!

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Katie Gilson, RMS and PHS agriculture teacher, on being named a SC Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher by the SCAAE (South Carolina Association of Agricultural Educators)! This award celebrates the dedication of SC agriculture teachers who foster boundless classroom and limitless learning for their students. It recognizes their role in shaping the future, and honors their contributions to developing the next generation of citizens and agricultural leaders. Recipients are recognized for their program development innovation as well as their commitment to lifelong learning.

Mrs. Gilson also picked up a SC Teacher Mentor Award. Recognizing a pivotal role of a mentor, the SCAAE has established a formal framework fostering positive relationships between experienced and beginning teachers as well as in-service teachers. This award program honors those SCAAE members who have committed their time and expertise to supporting and celebrating other teachers in the profession.

Mrs. Gilson's teaching philosophy: "In order to learn, the student should have a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. When students come into my classroom there should be a sense of freedom to explore the different elements of what agriculture can bring to them. In the classroom, it is emphasized that I expect students to respect all things and all people. Each student should be aware they are individuals who are unique and are capable of achieving whatever they would like to do with their lives."

8th grade AVID students visited USC Upstate today. Students got to tour the campus, learn about the different programs they have. and eat in the dining hall.
