Riverside Middle

These young Bulldogs are invited to play in the 2026 Middle School All-Star Game on November 22 at South Pointe High School. Way to go, guys!!!

We didn't get the volleyball season or 8th Grade Night that we wanted this year. But make no mistake... the Riverside faculty, staff, parents, grandparents, families, and friends are way more than proud of this group of young student-athletes! We wish them all the best in their final middle school year, high school, and beyond!

In Mr. Sheskey’s 7th grade Fundamentals of Computing class, students learned the procedures for safely flying drones from takeoff to landing! Mr. Sheskey even demonstrated the process by flying a drone around the room, giving students a firsthand look at the skills they are learning!

CONGRATULATIONS to US!!! Riverside Middle School is a 2025-26 AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Schoolwide Site of Distinction - the highest certification rating a school can achieve within the AVID program! Earning this designation means that college- and career-readiness strategies are no longer limited to a single elective class; instead, they are embedded across the entire campus culture, instructional practices, leadership, and systems. It is an elite honor awarded to a very small subset of schools — typically only 2% to 6% of all AVID secondary schools nationwide.
https://www.avid.org/secondary

To reach this status, a school must demonstrate exceptional fidelity to the AVID model through specific metrics monitored via the AVID Coaching and Certification Instrument (CCI):
- Deep WICOR Integration: Virtually all teachers across all subjects (math, science, history, etc.) actively utilize AVID's core WICOR instructional framework: Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading.
- High Staff Training Rates: A vast majority of the school's faculty and leadership are officially AVID-trained and implement uniform academic systems, like standardized note-taking and shared vocabulary.
- Measurable Student Impact: The school must prove that its culture promotes equity and opportunity. This is demonstrated by an increased number of students — especially those historically underrepresented — enrolling in rigorous coursework like Advanced Placement (AP) or honors courses.

Once again, CONGRATULATIONS to US!!!
